NSSM Points ‘Way Forward’ for Sports

first_imgThe Nigeria Society for Sports Management (NSSM) has identified areas that could enhance and sustain sports development in the country.A five-point communiqué signed by the NSSM President, Professor Muhammed Gambari, at the end of the body’s 2018 national conference held in Kano over the weekend, urged the Federal Government to urgently establish a channel for effective collaboration between various government parastatals in sports at  local, state and national levels with the NSSM towards involving positive management strategies through functional research process for effective policy formulation and implementation, even as it urged the government to closely monitor implementation of formulated policies with a view to achieving desired results. The communiqué stressed the need for government to support individuals with cognate experience to get appointed into key positions in the sports ministry, although this should be backed by what the NSSM called appropriate legislation. It also advocated effective collaboration between the government and private sector to ease the burden of funding on government, while also urging human capacity building to facilitate quality personnel through constant staff training in line with the best practices in other countries.Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegramlast_img read more
