Johnson City woman gets opportunity to honor husband months after his death

first_imgGina says for her, the day was all about finally having the opportunity to properly honor her husband. “Because of COVID we weren’t able to have a funeral, so this is the first time we’re honoring him for the incredible person he was and all that he accomplished in the 27 years he lived. Today is a day to honor him, play some soccer, and have a good time,” she says. BINGHAMTON (WBNG) — A local family found a unique way to remember a Johnson City man after COVID-19 prevented them from being able to have a traditional funeral. Scott Ritter of Johnson City passed away earlier this year, leaving behind his wife, Gina. Gina is an avid soccer player, so the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex decided to hold a benefit to help her cover expenses.
